Frequently Asked Questions
Is MTG Mate free to use?
Yes, MTG Mate is completely free to download and use. All features including life tracking, card search, and deck management are available at no cost.
How does iCloud Sync work?
MTG Mate offers two sync options: iCloud Sync for Apple devices and Account Sync (via email sign-in) for cross-platform sync. Both keep your data secure and synchronized across your devices.
How does Account Sync work?
Sign in with your email to create an account. Your cards, decks, and collections are securely stored on European AWS servers via Supabase. This allows you to sync your data across any device, not just iOS. Your data is encrypted and protected.
What Magic formats are supported?
MTG Mate supports all major formats including Commander/EDH (40 life, commander damage tracking), Standard (20 life), Two-Headed Giant (team life totals), and custom games where you can set any starting life total and player count.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, most features work offline. Life tracking, dice rolling, and viewing saved cards work without an internet connection. Card search requires an internet connection to fetch data from Scryfall.
What data does MTG Mate collect?
MTG Mate is a privacy-focused, local-first app. Your game data stays on your device unless you enable iCloud Sync or Account Sync. We collect anonymous analytics via TelemetryDeck (app launches, feature usage, error reports) with no personally identifiable information.
Is MTG Mate available on Android?
Currently, MTG Mate is only available for iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). There are no immediate plans for an Android version, but this may change in the future based on user demand.
